Nevada County Pride celebrates, supports, and advocates for the LGBTQ+ community in Western Nevada County by promoting Community, Diversity, and Respect through Events, Education, and Resources.
We are a social network of gay, lesbian, bisexual, queer, and transgender persons, and their allies, who celebrate and support the LGBTQ+ community in western Nevada County, California, including Grass Valley and Nevada City.
Participation in the organization is free and all are invited to join. One of the events that we sponsor is the monthly potlucks hosted in private homes. We also encourage others to initiate and organize events for Nevada County Pride and the local LGBTQ+ community. Check out the calendar page to see what’s happening in Nevada County.

You can learn about annual events such as the National Coming Out Day, local pride events, the Nevada County Fair, Juneteenth, and other local celebrations of diversity and culture.
We acknowledge the Nisenan people are still here among us today, though they are nearly invisible and their story continues to be excluded from history.
We understand we are on Nisenan land that was never ceded, and the original tribal families have yet to recover from the genocide of their people.

April is not just a month on the calendar but a canvas upon which we continue to paint the rich tapestry of LGBTQ+ culture, resilience, and progress.
Here at Nevada County Pride, we are excited to kick off this month with a sense of renewed purpose and commitment to uplifting every color of the rainbow that graces our community.

If you are like me, it’s hard to believe that the start of Pride month is only 60 days away – 2024 is flying by!
Our events committee has been working for months to bring our community a wide variety of June Pride events – some sponsored by NC Pride and some that are collaborations with others. This model has worked so well for the past 2 years because of the incredible volunteers who help bring our events to life! Our working Board and small but dedicated team of year-round volunteers cannot do it without additional volunteers. Volunteering is a great way to meet and connect with members of our community and build a sense of camaraderie and accomplishment for helping us make these events special. Here are a few of the ways you can help us build pride celebrations we’re PROUD of!

Come help create a Public Service Announcement that celebrates individuality. This project is for those who wish to read the Nevada County Media portion of the script, and add a bit of their own message in the mix. Sign up in advance using the link below. The recording will take place on May 15th.

Community Support Groups Off to Good Start
On March 18th, Nevada County Pride, in collaboration with Bright Futures for Youth and Color Me Human, started 2 on-going casual and confidential support groups for 18+ and families and allies. We had a good first turn out and some helpful discussions. This will be an ongoing every 3rd Monday of the month at Bright Futures for Youth. See the calendar for more details

Spring Potluck- Saturday, April 27th
Our April potluck will be Saturday the 27th from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Nevada City home of Helen Harvey.
What to Bring
— A dish to share (appetizer, salad, main, side dish, or dessert)
— Your own beverages to drink, including alcohol
— A suggested donation of $5 to support the ongoing potlucks. No one will be turned away who cannot donate
— Please, bring no pets
— Please consider volunteering to help clean up at the evening’s end.
