Queer the Area returns on July 29th! DJ Beth Koppe will once again be gracing the decks and this time we’ll be dancing into the night at Gold Vibe Kombuchary (12615 Charles Dr, Grass Valley) from 8-11pm.

All are encouraged to dress with intention. Express yourself! Push the boundaries of how you allow yourself to show up in the world. Serve your finest. Show off that hard femme, flaunt your soft butch. Astound us with your androgyny. We’re talking fashion! Decadence! Looks darling, LQQKS!
…or, if you just want to come out and be surrounded by community, you are welcome to do so in whatever attire in which you feel comfortable. This is an open invitation to all Queer people and the allies that love and support us.

A suggested donation of $10 - $15 will be accepted upon entry to help cover the costs of this event. Please bring some cash to help contribute if you can, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. If you have extra to give, you are encouraged to do so.

All proceeds from this event will be donated to the California Heritage Indigenous Research Project (CHIRP) to support their mission to preserve, protect, and perpetuate the culture of the Nevada City Rancheria Nisenan tribe. Learn more at chirpca.org

Queer the Area is a way for Queer people and their allies to come together to create welcoming space in the public arena. Everyone’s safety is a top priority for both the event organizers and staff of Gold Vibe Kombuchary. There will be a designated group of people who have volunteered to be part of a safety crew. They will be wearing specific armbands in order to be easily identifiable. If at any point during the evening there is someone or something that makes you feel unsafe, please find one of these people and they will assist you. Any issues that are brought to the attention of the safety crew and/or staff will be taken seriously and handled accordingly. As a Queer-centric event, transphobia, racism, homophobia, sexism, ableism, and the like will not be accommodated. Examine your prejudice and then leave it at home.
