Nevada City Welcomes its First Annual LGBTQ+ Pride Walk & Block Party in June 23rd, 2024. To be clear, this awesome event is NOT Nevada County Pride's event, but we are excited to have a booth at this event so please come see us.

Nevada County Queer Events’ production “Small Town, Big Pride” to Walk Down Commercial Street and ending with a Block Party!

After years of talk, it’s finally happening, Nevada City is hosting its first annual LGBTQ+ Pride Walk & Block Party! Come take a rainbow walk down Commercial Street on June 23rd and celebrate what it means to be queer in a small town. “The ‘Small Town, Big Pride’ Walk & Block Party will bring visibility, unity and empowerment to our LGBTQ+ community and strengthen friendships and support throughout Nevada County”, said Freddie Fierstein, producer of the annual event. “We invite our friends and allies to don their finest rainbows, leather, sequins, big stompy boots, however you outwardly express your queerness”, she continued. “Line Commercial Street, walk with us, wave your flags and celebrate as we honor identity, diversity, freedom and love.”

The “Small Town, Big Pride” Walk & Block Party honors the desire for free expression among a community who has been historically disallowed that right. “With all that is going on in the world right now and every year, it’s important to remember what it has taken to get here, for our community to gather and openly celebrate Pride,” said local Ali Adel. “This event is for us, but it is also bigger than us. Many LGBTQ+ people still live quietly, afraid, and ashamed. This event is for them, too. Our theme this year is “small town, big pride,” and we can’t wait to bring that to the streets of Nevada City this summer.” she continued.

In order to continue growing the annual Pride Walk & Block Party and land on the Broad Street main stage, the event producers ask all attendees and participants to respect city regulations and officers on-duty, who are in full support of the LGBTQ+ community and this event. All public events need to be safe and family friendly. Our community has received overwhelming public support from Nevada County Pride, Chamber of Commerce, City Hall & many local businesses.

The “Small Town, Big Pride” Walk & Block Party will start at the top of Commercial Street with a rally point at the parking lot in front of remedy garden at 4:00pm on June 23, 2024 in a local celebration of National Pride Month. The group will walk down Commercial Street from Remedy Garden parking lot to Robinsons Plaza beginning at 4:00pm and gather there to celebrate in the afternoon, bookended by speakers, music, and drag performances.
