Transgender Day of Remembrance
TDoR is a beautiful memorial service to remember and honor the lives of Transgender people killed due to violence. Please join our community on Saturday, November 18th, from 3 pm -5 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Community of the Mountains on 246 S. Church St., Grass Valley, CA. As we come together, honoring the lives we have lost and celebrating the lives we have, you will hear from amazing guest speakers, experience a video of lives lost, the opportunity to participate in a candlelight ceremony and conclude with an intimate reception of light refreshments.
TDoR gives our community much to reflect on, where we can come together and grieve the lives lost in our Transgender communities while renewing our commitment to staying resilient in combating bigotry and discrimination transgender people face daily. Many of our Transgender victims are Black and migrant trans women of color and trans sex workers. As a community and as a nation, we still have our work cut out for us in realizing what full equality means, and the issues impacting the civil rights and lives of transgender people have never demanded more urgent attention.
TDoR is a time to bring full awareness to how transgender people's lives are being threatened nationwide. Through this service, may we find grace, understanding, and a willingness to learn and grow so we can take this information and help bring about much-needed changes as we remember the lives cut so short and not forget them as we continue to fight for justice.
